Mauldin chronicaled the lives of the Dog-face American grunt of WWII. Mauldin's "Willie & Joe" provided a lot of solace and humor to their colleagues from the pages of Stars & Stripes. The Sergeant won a Pulitzer Prize in 1944 for one of the cartoons in this book. He lost his life at Iwo Jima. This is a relic of the War, printed in Italy and given to the troops.
