New York: IvisonPhnney & Co., 1860. First edition. Pictorial boards. Large quarto, pictorial paper covered boards with black leather spine. Unpaginated. Title page with publisher''s ads and list of maps on verso, followed by 11 page appendix of statistics and vocabulary. There are 37 pages of maps, most of which are printed on both sides of a sheet. The last map, the Roman Empire, is double page. The covers are worn and soiled, and the spine is chipped and worn, particularly at the top. The rear joint is starting. There is a piece of the back cover missing, about 1/2" x 1 3/4". There is some dampstaining at the top edge of the pages which affects the world maps but has remarkably spared the United States.
